After several months of high readings, due partly to my failing kidneys meaning that I had to be taken off metformin, I've recently been put on insulin (20 units at night for the first month, but the nurse increased the dose to 24 units, with instructions to me to add another 4 units every 3 days until my fasting BGs fall into the 4-6 range).
Since this means that I'm possibly at risk of hypos for the first time since August (or will be at any rate), I've bought myself some Glucotabs in case of need; they're more expensive than other brands, but they come in a sturdy (refillable!) plastic tube which will withstand the rigours of being carried in my pocket, unlike those flimsy paper packs.
And since each tablet has a precise stated amount of glucose (4g), this has started me wondering about the two bottles of Lucozade that are in my fridge in case of emergency, and also the Sodastream X-Stream energy drink syrups I have in the kitchen (along with several other flavour syrups of course -- their sugar-free cranberry and raspberry is a great accompaniment to chicken or turkey). Does anyone know how much glucose is in these? Neither website is of much help, they seem interested only in selling the stuff...
