This is an interesting series of tweets from Dr Nicola Guess.
She talks about spikes, the different insulin resistance (Hepatic & Muscular), and other things - in response to claims that blueberries cause short spikes and should be avoided. Also mentions the higher fasting readings on a low carb diet, and other things that can lead to higher than normal levels.
There's also a brief mention of hepatic insulin resistance (Liver keeps producing glucose when it doesn't need to) and muscular resistance. The former leads to higher fasting levels.
