t seems to be a check strip that you can insert and it will tell you whether the meter is working correctly. This is from a US instruction leaflet, but for the same monitor.

I notice the display in your picture shows mg/dl but in the UK we use mmol/l so I don't know if you can reset it (assuming you are in the UK) otherwise your readings will need conversion to be able to compare to figures quoted by people on here and UK sites.

I think @ncoope70 is in the US, so will need the results in mg/dl but you can convert to compare readings with people on this site by dividing by 18 (or Googling an online converter)

Thank you all, I am in the UK and when I did a test it came up with 8.3, so I assume it is in the right unit conversion, going to sit down later and have a good read through the instructions.

Oops, my bad, I think I confused you with someone else!

It's to test the machine, it can be changed to the UK readings, it tells you how to do it x

Mines the same monitor its just the box art the reading are in mmol (uk based) so don't worry about it.
The red strip is a test strip just insert now and then and it checks the meter and comes up OK or E, if E theres a problem if OK well it says it all.
