Hi I finally got my my code free meter can I use the same Lancet more than once or is it imperative it is changed every time.

The recommendations are for single use only.

The long-running joke among people with diabetes is that St Swithins Day is the annual occasion on which your lancet should be changed. (I'm sure Northie has a poem for it!)

Most people are somewhere in the middle of that 🙂

I change mine probably around once a week on average.

When it starts to sting a bit too much, I change it.🙂

Yes, I try and do as Mark does and change it when it stings, but I keep forgetting....

I must be the odd one out as I tend to change it once a day or every other day, as it allows me to keep the lancing device on the lowest penetration setting.

First few weeks I changed it every time, just like I'd been told. And then that just went by the wayside when it was easier not to keep changing it. Now I do it once every few days when it begins to get a bit too blunt.

I personally change mine every time. The only reason was I was hepatitis c positive for 32 years. So got used to being very careful . Now i’m Hepatitis c negative after treatment I still change from habit . But as others have said it’s a joke somewhat.
