Glucose Monitor Replacement.

Just wanted to share a good news story. My Accu-Chek Instant monitor bought about 6 years ago, kept on displaying an ERR 9 message, I bought new sticks, reset the monitor, replaced the batteries, said many prayers over it. I think the batteries kept on moving slightly so lost any connection. I contacted the makers, who asked a few details and then sent me a brand new device. I am so impressed.

The blood glucose meter manufacturers adopt a similar business model to ink-jet printer manufacturers:
provide the equipment [BG meter, printer] much cheaper than cost - and charge a huge amount for the consumables [test strips, ink cartridges] on an on-going basis. Over the years of use, they make £/$HUGE.
That said, it was good of them to give you a 'free' replacement meter!

I didn't pay for the Contour meters I use. Just filled in a form on a website and they sent them.

Different manufacturers of those 2 glucometers. Accu Chek is Roche, Contour is Bayer.
