Mike's just been given this new meter. His old one (freestyle optimum neo) is on the way out. After about 2 years Any reviews?? Other than it's bulkiness

Not one I'm familiar with. However they are pretty much-of-a-muchness and all do the job to the same standards for levels of accuracy, so it's just the extra bells and whistles that might set them apart - does it claim to do anything special?

BM, Ketones and Haematocrit. What ever that means!!7

Aparently it gives a more accurate bm. It's not something to measure. I'm really confused by it all. Will take some researching when I'm home

Hi Marshmallow

I don't know about this meter either I'm afraid, but If it tests for ketones, he'll need a prescription for special testing strips as well if it's anything like mine. I would imagine this is quite important for him given his propensity to DKA.

I had awful trouble getting my GP practice to understand the need for two different kinds of strips and they still got it wrong several times before finally sorting it with a lot of help from my pharmacist! If you can I would recommend asking the hospital to give you all the necessary codes to pass on to the GP.

I'm the same - I always have to really spell it out when I put in a request for ketone strips, not glucose!

We have a sheet with all the order codes on. Have always been lucky ordering both strips
