Just had meeting with Dr and nurse. They are very unhappy with my levels and are talking about insulin. Nurse said she would investigate if there were any further oral meds and is talking to Dr later today. I have contacted Diabetes Centre at local hospital and they have said I should go to max dose of Diamicron first and then the options are Gliptin and/or Glitazones before talking insulin.

Please can someone tell me about these as the books I have only mention the glitazone. Contact with any other Type 2 who has progressed through all meds to Insulin would be helpful.

I was only first Dx last March and started metformin in May. Things do seem to have progressed quickly but them that is the nature of the beast.

Hi pippaandben.

Just as an extra thought, are they certain you're type 2 ?

Some people are misdiagnosed early on but then their BGs rapidly rise and further checks reveal they're actually type 1.5 or slow onset type 1.

It might be worth questioning them just in case there's a possibility.🙂

don't mess about with further palliatives, if you are a Type 2 and insulin is offered, grab it. Most Type 2s try to fight off insulin for as long as possible, it is only when they are on it that the "scales fall from their eyes".
