I'm new, so not sure if this has been mentioned previously. It's about gliclazide.
My 20 year Type 2 history has been one of consistent hunger. Large meals, often needing snacks between meals. Result? Consistently high HbA1c and always led to believe that it was I who should control things better. Treated with gliclazide, insulin, metformin.
About 4 months ago, my condition was taken over by a Community Trust Diabetic Team. They withdrew gliclazide and changed the insulin to a "mix", part fast acting, part slower.
Within a week, my appetite fell considerably, smaller meals, no snacks. Over a 3 month period the HbA1c fell from 85 to 60. Hopefully further improvements to come. I have also been able to reduce the twice daily insulin doses.
My weight has stabilised.....only 7 pounds higher than when I left school "many" years ago!
I'm now discharged back to my GP team. They seem surprised at it all. 20 years on the wrong medication it seems

Any similar experiences out there?
