Hi im still getting to grips keeping my bs high enough to stop hypos. Im having to eat bigger snacks and that is helping. Ive just had my evening meal and forgot my tab. Ive taken it afterwars. What affect would this have please? Many thanks. H

Hi, I'm on gliclazide too and the patient information leaflet says to "take it as soon as you remember" but never double dose. Maybe just keep an eye on your BS tonight but you should be okay.

Ronnie, I think you need to ask your GP if you really need this medication, or if a different one would be better for you. You shouldn't have to eat extra things in order to keep your levels up all the time - basically, it works by stimulating your pancreas to produce more insulin, but it seem in your case it is producing more than you actually need.

I am with Northerner, you should not be eating to recover from hypos. That sounds more like you need to reduce, change or drop the medication.

But, are you sure they are true hypos? Do you test your blood glucose levels? It could be that you are experiencing false hypos whilst you get used to more normal levels.

As Northerner also said, you need you talk to your GP about it.

Andy 🙂

Have a chat to your GP or diabetes team. You shouldn't have to eat more to prevent hypos especially if you don't feel hungry.

Hi. I agree, going too low with Gliclazide means the dose is too high.
