Ive been diabetic type 2 for years and have heart problems take metformin and used to take saxagliptin too but the last 3 months they changed my saxagliptin to gliclazide 80mg to get my hba1c down was at 67 now its 51 but since that time ive put on nearly 2 stone due to gliclazide always feeling hungry has anyone else had same issue

Hi. Be aware that Gliclazide makes the pancreas produce more insulin and that will convert the carbs you have in food to glucose with some resulting weight gain. You need to reduce the carbs in the food you eat to get the weight (and blood sugar) down. When you reduce the carbs you may need to reduce the Gliclazide dose. Note that it isn't the Gliclazdie that's the problem it's amount of carbs you may be eating. Try to keep below 150gm/day total carbs. Carb reduction may also help reduce hunger pangs.

Hi @pmc79 and welcome to the forum. I've been on Glicklazide for the past 18 months now and have not noticed any noticeable increase in my weight over that period, so I guess that, as @DaveB has said, reducing your carb intake will, in turn, reduce your weight gain. Good luck in getting it under control.
