Well, I have decided to give up on the Carb Counting etc... and wait to see if can get funding for DAFNE & Accom...
BM's better though between 7.7-15.9mmols

But feeling very dishearthened reading that not many of you had problems with employment, and I seem to be so bloody complicated...

See post#11 on http://www.diabetessupport.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=1154&page=2 I'm also ex-forces, although left before diagnosis, due to hoping to emigrate, which was also scuppered - and would have loved to get back in. However, it's easier for those of us who only have diabetes to deal with - I know it would be even harder if I had mental health problems as well.
It sounds like you're doing just the right thing, using voluntary work to prove to potential employers what you can do, rather than giving them the option to concentrate on what you haven't completed.
I wouldn't feel disheartened because some people have had it a bit (or even a lot) easier, though, as that won't help you or anyone else - just keep trying.

Thanks Cope...
Just feel a bit ergh, held a job down for 6mths thats it... since Med Discharge (spent 2 yrs there).. that seems my life... start something, then leave or be forced to leave cos of one thing and another.

I know it must be disheartening - but - try to look at it as a golden opportunity to re-invent yourself!Find out what else you are good at or are interested in! Us humans have many layers - and we have many purposes- and we have more than one aim in life! Sit and write out all the things that make you feel positive about yourself - i am sure there will be lots if you think seriously about it - and then pick out the ones you would like to enhance - and take it from there - there is no rush! Take care. Bev🙂

If your BM's are better maybe you should stick at it? or is it being a real pain for you?

At first it's best to stick to eating similar things each day so that you know what the amount of carbs are in each meal. For example you might have two thick slices of bread for lunch with beans on top which is 40g of carbs so if you are on a ratio on 1:10g you need 4 units of insulin. Then the next day you have two thick slices of bread with cheese and pickle which is 4 units again.

If your readings are still too high you change your ratio ie. 1.5:10g

But if it's too much to cope with without going on a course just go back to how you were and dont worry about it until you get on the DAFNE course. Just don't let it stress you out 🙂
