Shelley Spector said it was a "complete surprise" when she was diagnosed with Type I diabetes.
The mom of two said it was "such an isolating feeling."
So imagine just how Spector felt when her daughter Lindsey was also diagnosed with Type I diabetes - but as a young girl at the age of 5. Lindsey is now 9.
"Diabetes is with us 24-7," Spector said. "It's so consuming for us."
But the Spectors are not alone in their battle.
