A group of young swimmers from Giffnock are taking to their local pool to raise funds and awareness for people living with diabetes by swimming 22 miles – the length of the English Channel.
The group is led by ten-year-old Jacob Kitson, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was six, and Joseph Hill (7), who has lived with the condition since he was four.
Jacob’s mum Vicki, secretary of the Glasgow Family Group, said: “Jacob and his school friend Joseph wanted to do something to support people living with Type 1 diabetes. We found this idea from Diabetes UK, and thought with help from a few friends it would be an exciting challenge. The support from friends has been fantastic and we are looking forward to completing the 22 miles as a group.”
