Hi all. I cant seem to get the right balance pf Carbs in my diet. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Last night I had Chicken, sweet potatoes and veg, 3/4 hours later I felt shaky took my bloods and they were under 3, where am I going wrong? Thanks..

I've just read one of your previous posts and seen that you are a type 2 on insulin, what insulin regime are you on x

Hi Lynne. Balancing carbs and insulin should be tackled from both ends - by that I mean the amount of insulin can be adjusted as well as the amount of carbs. I think you should give your health team a call, tell them you are having hypos, and discuss whether, now your levels are stabilising, you need to alter your insulin doses.

When your feeling like that What's you BG .

Thanks for the replies. I am on insulin twice a day. Type 2, my blood sugars have been steady over the last few weeks apart from the odd hypo mainly at night. I thought the blood sugars went up after your main meal.

Hi Lynne. Twice daily, That sounds like you are on a mixed insulin a combination of long and rapid insulin ? If I'm right in this then I'm pretty sure they should have given you the amount of carbs you should eat each time.m
Apologies if I am wrong and you are not on mixed insulin.
It is normal for your BGs to rise after a meal but by two hrs for T2 they should be no higher than 3 or 4 mmol higher.
I suggest you contact your team/nurse for advise as your dose may need altering. Amongst other things , weight loss or the change of seasons can affect our BG levels,
