WHAT IS A…

Message Board: Message boards list general topics, where people can start conversation (threads). You cannot create new message boards, but do get in touch if you think something is missing.​

Thread: A discussion (usually a question) started by an individual. This is within a Message Board.​
​
Post: The comments and replies within a thread. This could be other people or the individual who started the thread.​
​
Conversation/Private Messages: A private conversation between two or more members. When you are signed in, you will have an ‘inbox’ in your profile. This is where you will find your private messages.​
​
Profile Post: A publicly viewable comment on either yours or another member’s profile page.​
​
Profile Page: A page where members can view information about you, and your recent activity.​

HOW DO I REGISTER?

It's free to register, just follow the link to Sign Up and follow the details on the forum.

Once registered and logged in, you can post an introduction about yourself in our ‘Newbies say hello here’ board.

HOW DO I START A THREAD?

To start a thread of your own and ask the community a question, you will need to register as a member.
See ‘HOW DO I REGISTER?’

Once registered, select the message board you would like to ask a question in:

Once you are logged in and have opened a ‘Board’, you can select ‘Post New Thread’ on the top-right of the page:

This will open a 'Create Thread' dialogue box for you to write your question:

Enter a ‘Thread title’ in the box and your question or comment in the box below.

The icons in the tool bar allow you to format text and insert smilies.

When finished, simply click ‘Create’ Thread’ beneath the text box.

To comment on a thread, you must register as a Forum Member. Registration is free and simple. See ‘HOW TO REGISTER’.
If you are already a Forum Member, you must be logged in to comment on a thread.

Go to the bottom of the page of the thread.

You will find a dialogue box that states ‘Write your reply…’

Once you have written your response, hit ‘Post reply’ in the bottom-right of the reply box.

To reply to a comment, you must register as a Forum Member. Registration is free and simple. See ‘HOW TO REGISTER’.
If you are already a Forum Member, you must be logged in to post a comment.
  • Find the comment you would like to respond to
  • Select ‘reply’ to the bottom-right of the comment
  • The message will appear in your reply box (see below)
  • Write your response

The comment you are responding to will appear in your reply box as below, with ['QUOTE'] before and after the comment.
Write your response beneath the code:

HOW DO I ‘LIKE’ A POST?

Sometimes it is nice to show your appreciation for a post, or it can be a quick way to acknowledge a comment instead of replying.
To ‘like’ a post, select ‘like’ on the bottom-right of any post.

HOW DO I ‘REPORT’ A POST?

We rely on the support of our members to let us know if they see in an inappropriate or offensive post.
If you see a post that is a concern, please use the ‘report’ button beneath a comment. This will alert the moderator team who can take the appropriate action.

HOW DO I ‘REPORT’ A PRIVATE MESSAGE?

If any users from our community receive any inappropriate, offensive, or worrying messages they can "report" them. Please click on the "Report" button on the message you would like to report. If their are multiple messages, please report all of them.

You can update any element of your profile, such as your personal details, notification preferences, privacy settings and password by using the drop-down menu under your name:

HOW DO I CHANGE THE CAPTION UNDER MY POSTS?

Your ‘Signature’ allows you to include a message about yourself or comment that will be visible to other member’s every time you post.

You can change this in your ‘Profile Settings’ by selecting ‘Signature’ and editing the text so that it says what you would like it to say at the bottom of each post.

We do not currently have a formal limit on the length of signatures on the forum, but please be aware that the majority of visitors to the forum are now using phones, tablets and mobile devices, and that long signatures can create problems with accessibility and legibility for other forum users. Please limit the length of signature to a maximum of 5-6 lines (the shorter the better!).

You can send a private message to one or more members using the private message function, or ‘conversation’ function.

This is viewable in your ‘inbox’:
