Welcome to the forum, Chris Edison. Congratulations on your weight loss, diet and gym changes.
Are you taking any other medications in addition to insulin? What type of Humalin, as there are a few?

Wow, what a turn around, good for you 🙂

Hi Chris, welcome. Wow that is fantastic. You've obviously worked very hard.
It is possible to come off insulin, I hope you are able to.

Hello and welcome to the forum Chris. 🙂

Hello Chris. You don't mention how old you are, I was 54 when first diagnosed in 2013. At first I was thought to be type 1 and I was put on insulin injections. My approach has been to try to be sensible with the diet without being too strict, combined with what most people would consider to be insane amounts of exercise. Distance running and doing Triathlons being my main sports of choice. I kept having to reduce my insulin doses because I kept getting mild hypos. After eight months I had to stop injecting altogether because even one unit was causing me to go too low. I was put on Lynagliptin for about eighteen months but am currently free of all medication. This proves that it is possible but it would seem to be pretty rare. I started a thread when the DVLA form came through to renew my driving licence, it has some comments on it that you may find useful.

Edit:
I have been giving this post quite a bit of thought during the week and felt that I needed to add a couple more thoughts. Firstly that although I feel pretty proud of my level of dedication and self discipline since being diagnosed I think that your record seems to be even more impressive. Also, the thread on the link that I posted would tend to suggest that getting off insulin is far more unusual than it actually is. while discussing a different matter it was pointed out to me by Matt that the forum has over 14,000 members but regular posters probably number 20, 30, 40, if that. This would mean that there could be any number of members who had done it but not felt the need to report it to the rest of us.
