This is my food for the week. Decided to have a healthier week and went to M and S (prettier food smaller portions higher price!)
Have been eating chips biscuits and drinking beer for a month and my BG and weight are higher. So it’s a teetotal week. Average BG at start is 8.2. Will be walking too!
This is what I'm wary of as I'm approaching the stage of moving towards ongoing maintenance. I still need to lose some weight and belly fat, but am planning on slowing the weight loss with a view to a slow transition towards a long term food strategy.
I strongly suspect the key will be finding a balance for yourself. Chips biscuits and beer in moderation, and possibly not every day. When moving to your long term eating plan just keep an eye on weight / junk foods.
You can do this 🙂
Thanks for the advice. I am trying but keep sinning! I need to lose some weight too. Today had fruit and yoghurt and nuts, luch is salad as always and dinner will be salmon and veg. No alcohol and a walk! See what happens by Friday.

Yes I can do this but seemingly not always! I find that bacon and egg at breakfast is satisfying (but fattening) and a salad at work is fine.
Then I go home at 5 and have meat/fish with veg and wine followed by fruit and yoghurt. The wine or the weather stops me going for a walk and the fruit shoots up my BG then I may need a biscuit to tide me over. I need to be very strict most of the time and stop eating chips!
Chips are indeed the work of the devil @lordburnside! 😉
I restrict myself to a small chippy special a couple of times a month at work, ie small fish, no accompanying sausage (well, one of my colleague's dog gets it!) and a half ration of chips. On the plus side I'm the one who walks and get the team's lunch so at least I get some exercise.
However, I've just got this year's hba1c back and I've gone up from 39 to 40, so will be restricting the chippy dinner to once a month at most. It's so easy to become complacent sadly. Best of luck x
I was 55mmol/mol and was really good and went to 42 then 44. I guess I am probably 46 at the moment.
Your weight loss is incredible - I am a stone lighter but would like to eat more not less!
I think my stomach has too much capacity now - it needs too much food to register as full/satisfied. 210lbs at moment
I started well yesterday up to dinner - two salmon steaks courgettes with cheese and some chickpeas - no alcohol and a 2.5 mile walk.
Breakfast today was fruit and yoghurt and nuts but managed to get to 12.6BG (pomegranate and portion size) (now 6.5) so maybe scrambled eggs tomorrow.
Day 3 of getting back on track. Didnt manage my walk last night ( damn rain again) but still no alcohol and eating better.
Already lost 2lbs in weight but have been feeling a little under the weather. This is either carb withdrawal or alcohol withdrawal. My appetite/cravings are much lower. Hope to keep this up until the weekend and beyond - should feel better tomorrow once my body gets used to this low carb no alcohol regime. We shall see.
Hope to be good at the weekend too - little alcohol and maybe a Yorkshire pudding!
Would be interesting to know how your BG reacts to a Yorkshire Pudding if you have one. My wife uses a BBC Good Food recipe for making 8 Yorkshires and each one is 15g carb according to the recipe.
