I'm starting this Thread because I know that in the past people that are newly diagnosed mention that they need to lose weight, or are depressed, or both, and I have encouraged them to get out for a walk

I've been watching this YT Chanel for a couple of years now; she started with tips on saving money, and has progressed to cover all sorts of subjects, including going for short easy walks
I don't think she has diabetes but she shows how she enjoys living simply - diet, crafts, and enjoying both towns and countryside
This is her latest; it is cheerful, positive, and hopefully it will inspire you to get out & about, as she suggests at the end
She says it is about 7 miles but you don't need to do that length to enjoy the fresh air

Thankyou. One to follow for sure. 🙂

Just moving and/or getting about is such a plus! I ran just over 6 miles this morning and it has set me up for the day!

As we know, there are loads of YT videos on hiking & walking, from easy to strenuous & serious
These two channels show how you can enjoy short walks in both the countryside and urban areas, as most places have side streets, footpaths, and back lanes once you look for them -

The Bald Explorer, mostly in the Sussex countryside
John Rogers, mostly in London

And such is the way of YouTube, I expect you will be presented with similar videos all over the place - and you can, of course, explore your own area.

Yes, my job is very physical, and I don't drive, so walk tons, it's hard to find time with my job and being a single parent to a young person with extra needs, but we are trying to walk after tea on days he dosent want to go to the gulym as thatsa mile away too, so not enough time for both.

We have decided on a 2.4 Mile route for now.

Last summer my steps were average 14, 000 on a week day so I know I can get back to that. I've been so tired and pushed for time so I've been getting the bus home from work when I can, and I need to stop that.

My job is incredibly stressful and, my time runs over constantly, its too much for a just over minimum wage job. So I'm.considering moving to something (in the same practice) that will allow me to plan better, be less stressful to give me headspace to tackle things, and allow a proper lunch break....... I clearly can't continue spinning all the plates I have been and add diabetes to the mix as well.

This is a diagnosis that has me reconsidering so many things.
