I have a opticians eye test on Thursday, have had one for retinopathy, this is for the other problems.

Was diagnosed type2 in August last and do wear glasses for reading, but eyesight seems to have got worse this last 2 months, and may need specs for distance too. Fasting BS are really good, and always about 5 now (last month or so) .

Have I left it long enough for things to settle down, or should I wait say another 6 months before paying for specs?

Depends how you are managing with your eyesight really. If you are struggling with reading and/or distance then I'd say get a cheap pair for now just to make life easier? That's what I'd do but there may be others with better suggestions.

If the optician recommends new glasses at your test this week, I would go ahead and get them.

You say you might need distant glasses, you can of course get variafocals, which cover both. I didn't get on with them so I have both reading glasses and a pair for distance.

Good luck

John.

Given your good levels for some time now, I would say that you would be fine to go ahead with glasses if recommended by the optician. It took my eyes about a month to settle down after diagnosis. 🙂

Thanks guys, see what the optician says tomorrow then, may well be more expense.

Varifocals sound a good idea John, my wife has them, and would save on possible cost of 2 pairs of normal glasses, but I know they are expensive.

Had a very good examination by the optician, including taking another set of pics for retinopathy. Showed me the results and explained whats what and said I have no worries. So pleased about that one. Confirmed what you guys said about eyes will have settled by now.

So, ordered some bifocals to save messing about with 2 pairs. Happy today despite not losing any weight this week.🙂

Good news Slipper.
