I read here that a poster needed to post her Good news (@Vonny) lest she burst!! I chuckled read her post and was really pleased for her but admit I felt a little sad for myself. Then a still small voice said "Wait, but look how far you've come!!" And I was immediately buoyed and cheered.

So these are my gains, milestones and goals:

- Thighs are not rubbing together anymore

- Clothes fitting looser

-Waist seems smaller although I admit I'm not yet at the Marilyn Monroe hourglass 25in waist that I'm aiming for!

- Can now run up and down the railway bridge stairs ("Rocky" style) six times before slowing! Before I'd have to stop walking halfway up the first staircase to catch my breath!!

- A motorist stopped and he looked admiringly at me the other day as I was out walking/exercising. Is that sleezy?!! I took it as a compliment. I even told my husband!

- Am no longer walking but now yomping! Learnt that word from a poster on here.

- Am no longer testing my BG, yayyy! No more expensive test strip pots, my BG meal rise was always below 2, and waking BG rarely below 4.2 or above 5.7 over the last six weeks, no more deciding which finger to bore, am now confident what foods my body wants and doesn't want, and if I have a cheat day or go on holiday and "fall off the wagon" I know what to do with diet, exercise or IF to correct it.

- More energy!

- Less fatigue!

- Less appetite!

- Less sugar cravings!

- Less low mood and anxiety!

- Feel way better!

Goals:

1. Target to get my A1c into the 30s within the next twelve months;

2. To find a great job that I enjoy, can be myself, be valued and appreciated;

3. To refurbish my house before summer 2021 (how do you find reliable builders who don't quote exorbitant prices, and complete the job on time and within budget, or is that asking too much?); and

4. Buy a second hand affordable ULEZ compliant car.

What are your achievements, milestones so far and goals?

Being type 1, my goal is to keep my levels in target most of the time. I've just had bloids done so waiting for results, hopefully they will he all ok.
Congratulations on your achievements. They're fantastic.

@MAC2020

That’s a huge list of really valuable achievements - well done! Fingers crossed you can get your HbA1c where you’d like it BUT even if that doesn’t happen you‘re keeping it really stable and only barely in the ’at risk’ range and most importantly feel better, fitter and healthier so you’re winning either way. 🙂

@MAC2020, those are some fabulous achievements, so please don't feel remotely sad. I'm still inching (or should it be millimetering!) towards that Marilyn waistline as well. We will both get there 🙂

You are doing so well, and isn't it the little things that really make a difference like thighs not chafing and not getting so out of breath. One of the best things for me losing some weight was the ability to turn myself over in bed without having to haul self over with a lot of huffing and puffing.

Lovely to read your good news, you've made my day x

Oooh - I remember having inner thighs which did that and actually made a sore there one day we were walking round Bristol with some friends, prior to what was then, the annual Wine Fair. I was very miserable all in all at that time, serving my 3 months notice of redundancy from a job I loved - but I absolutely never wanted to be there with the thighs ever again and haven't been.

Take heart - that was the catalyst for a big change in my life and fortunes since having first taken a job that paid less and I was well over qualified to do, which I hated and depressed me, I subsequently took another at even less pay but closer to the city centre hub I was used to - one day I happened to answer someone else's phone cos all of that section were at lunch and I was just coming back from mine, and the person who I knew from my old job, asked what the hell I was doing working there after I'd taken the message for the other person? I laughed and said I was beginning to ask myself the same question really - when she said, get round here and have an interview cos we always need decent people. Long and short of it within 2 months I was working there and much happier and fulfilled than I'd been for years!

What a lovely inspiring post @MAC2020

Huge congratulations on your achievements so far, and the changes that you’ve made which have made such a difference.

Good to still have some goals too, but great to recognise how far you’ve come. Keep going!

TW, that’s a great compelling inspirational story. Funny how the “worst place” we can find ourselves, in hindsight, sets off a chain reaction that gets us to the best place we can find ourselves! Life is strange and weird and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
