Some of you may have read my posts in which I am looking for help and advice on these crippling episodes I have every few weeks which my GP and DSN cannot answer so basically they just ignore it, sothe only person whowill solve this is me. I have blamed inulin and am now going through all of my meds to seeif this is the guilty party. One thing it could be is Neuropathy. How many of you are on gabapentin? & amatryptilyne?, I wonder if these cause it,(Basically severe tingling pains in forearms and hands and then a nervous type feeling in my chest which then runs like a hot and cold wave right down my body) but if they do why is it only certain times that i have bad reactions to them, you would think taking them daily would trigger these episodes daily. I eat roughly the same things all the time and do not drink alcohol anymore, so I like the docs am at a total loss as to what is causing it.

I've been on gabapentin before and I'm currently on amitriptylene and haven't had either of these symptoms. However I did have a range of strange symptoms for several years and after I was referred to a neurologist it was confirmed that I was having chronic silent migraines. My symptoms weren't like you're having but would it be worth getting a referral to a neurologist?

I’m on Gabapentin for fibromyalgia and sometimes get pins and needles in my hands and occasionally forearms (and face). For me it’s probably more related to my fibro than my meds but it is a listed effect of gabapentin too so who knows. I’ve not had the hot/cold thing though. Any kind of neuropathy can be fleeting and won’t necessarily be constant. I don’t know what you’re on the gabapentin so I can’t guess as to whether your underlying condition may be the cause. If it gets to a point where it’s more than an annoyance then asking for a referral to a specialist may be a good idea. For me physical therapy in the form of seeing a Chiro regularly helps stave off a lot of my pins and needles because there is a physical component not just the neuro one.
