Hi everyone,
Hope you're all ok and enjoying some non-rainy weather!
I'm 10 weeks into the big D now, lost about 22lbs and all going ok. One of the ridiculous issues I had was fear of finger pricking, but I'm over it! In fact I need some more test strips, but my surgery are happy to give me a prescription.
I started at Dx with bloods around 11/12. 6 weeks in, my readings all started with a '5'. Today though I felt a bit wobbly - sort of dizzy-ish and yawny and a bit nauseous. So I tested and was 3.7. I didn't have anything sugary, but my friend gave me a small carton of apple juice (drank about a third, really not liking the taste nowadays!). I gave it 15 minutes then tested at 5.5 so just assumed that had done the trick.
This all happened just before lunch (I hadn't eaten since breakfast at 7am) so off I trotted and had a small tuna sarnie and a small piece of quiche. Left it about 2 hours, tested again and was 4.9.
So does this all sound normal? I would have thought the lunch would put me up more than that, and was the 3.7 'wobble' just one of those things?
My GP and nurses keep telling me that Metformin won't allow me to 'hypo' so I haven't planned for low sugars by keeping jelly babies or anything, so I wonder if I should?
Thanks
Jane
