Hello, it is not rare that I am often full, I feel my stomach stretched almost ready to throw up, yet I am very eager to eat a specific taste (savoury, carby, sweet) that I have in mind.

I am almost convinced that this must be some kind of neuropsychiatric disorder. I am not craving to eat because I am hungry for sure. But my desire to taste something that has stack in my mind is overwhelming, regardless of my level of satiation and fullness.

This is self-destructing. How can I find salvation?

I find that I eat for taste, fortunately it's savory only.... When I feel I want to eat I tend to grab a pint of water, or make some coffee.... Unless it's a planned mealtime

there is a medical condition that includes an eating impulse it is called
hyperphagia it is part of prada willis syndrome not sure if the hyperphagia can manifest as part of other conditionds or as an eating disorder in its own right

Hi NoCarb. I've had similar, I'm not hungry at all, but can have a terrible craving for something. With me it's often something sweet. Personally I think it's those darned addictive carbs playing games again.
You'd think having a tiny nibble of whatever it is, but no it's got to be the whole pack
When it strikes, I try to keep busy.
Sorry no help, just wanted to let you know you're not the only one on here it happens to.

I know what you mean nocarbs and find my craving for chocolate is totally unrelated to hunger. But that's the only food I gave the problem with. I only wish I could solve it! :(

I suffer with this as well. In my case I think I want to finish with something sweet. I try to curb it with a few sunflower seeds, although I can go over board with these.

I think hunger fuelled through a previous dependency on carbs is very different to Prader-Willi syndrome to be honest coffeesnob. Prader-Willi is a rare genetic disorder which also manifests in restricted growth and abnormal muscle tone. I worked with a number of young learning disabled people with the condition and yes many went on to develop type 2 as a result of the hyperhagia but that's distinct to food cravings.

The problems with carbs is they taste too damm good and can be a bit addictive! I find when I'm hungry it's carbs I crave and the issue with them is they quickly lead to further hunger because they don't satiate the hunger. I try to incorporate protein and fats but it would be really easy to grab a piece of cake or a sausage roll! 😱

I make my own greek yogurt and sweeten it with truvia and frozen berries. it works out at 7 carbs per portion. Tp make it really decedent you can grate just one square of plain chocolate on the top and still not feel guilty🙂

The answer to your first question, NoCarb, is probably, and to the second question, no. Talk to your GP, there are routes to CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) on the NHS if this a big problem for you. Certainly, no one here on the forum can help.

Dunno but if you find the answer let me know please. :D I am never full or very rarely...maybe after a HUGE Christmas dinner. It would be interesting if it weren't so banal, the whole world and his wife is a food addict now whereas it used to just be me. I was the only fattie in the village. At 12stones I was considered quite obese and there weren't any clothes to fit me. Now everybody's fat! :D

Hi NoCarb
There's a very significant difference between wanting something and feeling compelled to do something, and I think you might be suggesting from your post that you're eating issues are erring towards compulsion. The line between slightly destructive eating habits and an eating disorder is quite a fine one at times but it's an important distinction. So I ate a Ritter sport marzipan bar yesterday, bit daft really, wasn't hungry I just felt like I really wanted a boost, but I could have controlled that urge if I'd really wanted to, that falls very distinctly into destructive rather than compulsive behaviour. If you're saying you don't feel able to control your eating patterns at all, and once you have the notion of a food you're unable to stop yourself from eating it, I would suggest that's in the compulsive bracket. We can't diagnose a psychological issue here, and whilst I don't want you to feel I'm suggesting you can't share these issues with us, we aren't able to help solve them. Sharing tips on how to avoid destructive eating patterns is something I'm sure we can all dig into, since most humans have experience of that at some point in their lives, but this issue seems to be causing you distress so I'd recommend that you see a medical professional. As Mikey said earlier there are routes to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and other types of therapy available, and crucially they can also ensure there's no physical issue at the root of it too.
