I have been a diabetic now for 13 yrs following major stomach surgery. I get unpleasant side effects digesting some foods and would love to hear from others with the same experience about how to deal with these problems

Have you not been prescribed Creon? If you have and still have D then you need to increase the dose. If you haven't been prescribed it then ask for a consult with your surgeon who will prescribe it.

Thank you. Yes I take creon and have done so for the last 12 years
Part of the problem is I also had part of my stomach removed so digesting vegetables and red meat is very difficult and causes problems for regulating my glucose levels with my diet

No but they are fully aware of the problems and do their best.

As I understand it there are specialist dietitians for people with gastric problems, could you contact your GP or better still your gastro team who should be able to refer you.

Thanks I have been referred and have an appointment in April What I was hoping for was to hear from others who had been operated on in the same way to see how they cope

Ah ok, hopefully the diet guru will be able to help. I've just started using Creon and find when eating meat I actually need a bit more Creon. Can you experiment with your dosage a bit to see if that helps, or cooking your meat differently does cutting/dicing the meat and veg make any difference?
Obviously I have very little knowledge so just throwing ideas/thoughts out to you.

I wonder if this is something that perhaps @eggyg might have some useful input on. She has had pancreatic surgery and is on Creon and has digestive difficulty due to scar tissue from surgery.

Welcome to the forum @Silversmiths

We have a few Type 3c members, but I’m not sure we have anyone with experience of exactly the same procedure that you‘ve had.

We also have some members like @AJLang with experience of delayed stomach emptying (gastroparesis) though I’m not sure if that is similar to the things you are experiencing.

Part of the problem is that there is no real historical data to look at. This is because the survival period after a 'Whipple' operation is about 2 - 3 years. My operation was 13 years ago so I am lucky and certainly not complaining. But there must be others like me somewhere
