Frozen shoulder

You can use either ICE or HEAT according to them.

Yeah they've also said that to me, one minute i've got an ice pack on my shoulder, the next i've got the heat massager on it, also deep heat & i've found in the last couple of weeks i need to use the Max strength one.

I tried ibuprofen, which did nothing, so I foudn an exercise on the net which involves bending forwards, allowing your bad arm to hang downwards and slowly circle it, from the shoulder, in a stirring motion. Do it a few times, then reverse the direction. If you do it a few times every day, it may loosen up and ease the pain a bit.

I think the idea is that it eases it without putting strain on the joint/tendons.

I don't know if this helped or whether it just got better on its own but I've not had any recurrence and got full movement back.

Thanks for this Rob, when you say a few times every day roughly how many times? I've been told by my physio to try my arm exercises about 2 or 3 times each day & do each small exercise about 10 times.

I can't remember tbh. Probably start at about that and see if you can work up. I'd follow your physio's advice. It's such a variable and personal thing that you need to find what works for you.🙂

Yeah i will use the excercises my physio has given me on the exercise sheets but also i think the one you said about earlier is a nice gentle one re "an exercise on the net which involves bending forwards, allowing your bad arm to hang downwards and slowly circle it, from the shoulder, in a stirring motion. Do it a few times, then reverse the direction".

I nearly jumped through the ceiling this morning, i was lay on the bed with my bad shoulder / arm over Whisky (our westie), he heard the post coming through the letter box & jumped up as he always does very quickly which then threw my bad shoulder / arm straight up in the air :(

The worst thing I used to do was at work, when I walked through a double door and someone was behind me, I'd instinctively throw my arm out to catch the closing door and it used to stop me in my tracks. A couple of times I had to sit down and let the colour return to my cheeks, so I can sympathise will all.🙄

That's the exercise that my GP told me to do when my first shoulder went, it does help sooth the pain side of things, but alas for me failed to ease the mobility problem...
