A 17-year-old girl has been inspired to complete Grantham triathlon in aid of Diabetes UK, following the diagnoses of both her friend and grandad.
It is not the first time Hannah Armson has completed the 400m swim, 18km cycle and 5km run, but having successfully raised hundreds of pounds for Water Aid, this time she is swimming, cycling and running for a cause particularly close to her heart.
The student from Walton Girls’ Sixth Form explained: “My close friend has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and my grandad has got type 2. They deal with it everyday, and I’m just hoping to raise some money and help increase awareness and understanding of diabetes.”
