Help!
I’m having problems keeping the sensor sticking to my skin, I’ve tried nipple covers, but they keep unsticking too, what does everyone else use?
Many Thanks
Judy x hot & sticky!

Hey Judy, a couple of years ago 2018 I think, we had a really hot summer and I lost a few, called Abbott and they said they had an issue with the adhesive and replaced the ones I’d lost, if I was you I’d try to clean the site with alcohol liquid and a sterile wipe and leave it at least a minute to Dre before sticking the sensor on
Best of luck with it Paul

We used to stick Tegaderm over them which worked fairly well. If you do this though you are supposed to cut a hole in the middle to allow the skin to breathe (although we never did, had been using it for several months without problems before we found this out so just carried on)
We have also just discovered skin tac wipes which my daughter says are amazing, had so many problems with cannulas falling off with her new pump and now they don’t budge!

There are different types of skin but I have found my sensors stick if ...
- I attach my sensor after thoroughly wash my arm with only soap and water and no moisturiser.
- i attach my sensor to a flat part of my arm. It took me some time to realise the sensors do not bend so if I place them on an area that flexes when I move my arm, it will start to peel off.

Some people with greasy skin use Tegaderm to hold their sensor in place.

I just bought a strap for my Libre sensor a couple of weeks ago and I am very happy with the increased security it provides in keeping the Libre in place. It is essentially a 3D printed plastic surround with an elastic strap. You can get them in various colours. I bought it as a solution to me accidentally scrubbing my sensors off in the shower with my exfoliating gloves. Much as I think, when I get into the shower, that I must be careful not to catch the sensor, my mind wanders occasionally and because I can't see it I forget it is there. The arm strap is a visual reminder as well as protecting the sensor if I do catch it. It has solved the problem for me and no problems with compression lows from it. I also think it makes a bit of a feature of my Libre (I think it looks quite "Lara Croft" but maybe I look like a tagged offender) Either way, I don't really care as long as it keeps it in place for 14 days and so far it is working well.

I got mine off ebay.... this is it...

Hello, something I am presently trying which seems to work well is football "Sock Tape"
This is a tape that has no adhesive in it but does cling to itself but will hold to skin. I overwrap the tape so it is a good grip.
It will cope with showering , swimming etc but you may have to pat it dry afterwards.
The beauty of it to me is it's cheap at £4-ish/ 5mtr roll by 5cm wide but other widths and colours are available too.
It is so easy to replace should it be required and is cost effective it is worth getting some to just have available. As it is a wrap around it is not size aware so it could be applied about your thigh, arm tum anywhere you place your sensor/pod.

In the blurb it says it will hold on hair, all I can add to that is it will hold on my furry arms no need to shave them.

Whilst I have no issues with the tape I would make certain it is ok for you as some of these tapes do have a latex contnt to them.
Here's what I use :>>> https://www.amazon.co.uk/SPORTTAPE-...2ARO7P&qid=1622542455&s=merchant-items&sr=1-6

I do clean my arm etc before adding my sensor to ensure best grip I only use the tape as a protector as back up to catching it and dislodging it.

@mark king sock tape sounds like the human equivalent of VetRap.
You have reminded me this is what the Abbott rep recommended. Being designed for animals, it has no problem with hair/fur and is cheap.
It also comes in some funky colours.

I used it for a while and loved that it was not single use and it could be washed.
It lost its clinginess over time but I got some longish rolls so was not worried.

Then I realised I am lucky to have "limpet-skin" provided I put my sensor in the right place.

Yes that's correct @helli you can use VetRap in fact the company that makes this version does mention Vet in its wording, see my link above.

I must confess I have been thinking recently about how I could make an arm pouch for my Libre reader out of Vetwrap so if/when I get Libre 2 I can have it near my sensor and easily accessible but secure whilst I am walking/running/working outdoors during the summer. It is clever stuff and having horses, I always have plenty in stock. I never pay more than £2 a roll for the 4" rolls but then I tend to buy in bulk.

Like others I wash the area of application with soap and water, dry with a roughish towel and wipe with an alcohol pad before applying.

Apart from one "incident" with the bathroom door frame while dashing to answer the phone and two caused by my brain being slow to adjust to the narrow corridor on our canal boat, I've not lost a sensor in 3 years!

I have tried tegaderm for when I'm on the boat but found it curled up round the edges and picked up fluff such that it looked disgusting before the sensor was nearly finished, but I found it impossible to remove without dislodging the sensor.

Did exactly the same years ago with a trial Libre I had when they first invented them only in our moho where you'll appreciate walls and doors are both a lot thinner than on a canal boat since weight is an issue in mohos!

The PAIN!!! - rendered me completely speechless for quite a few minutes - and that's not an easy task!

Mainly use stomach & chest so not easily knocked off so use nothing, on arm would use tubular bandage for protection, best practice for good adhesion is to use alcohol wipe to clean skin before applying, so get rid of oil sweat deodorants.

Ouch! Though at the time I was more annoyed that I'd only had the thing on for 3 days and only had one spare for a 2 week trip. Had to be VERY careful after that

Think mine lasted about the same. Never done it since, but when you're more intent on getting to the loo so as not to have another type of accident entirely - tricky!
