My first thought would be to definitely get the reader. If you have a problem with the sensors, then Abbott will expect you to be able to do a comparison blood test with the meter, and I also doubt if they will support any problems if only using an app. Just my opinion though - I don't use apps!

@Lucy Honeychurch . I hope you find it helpful. I love mine and wouldn't part with it for all the tea in China.

Sadly I won't be able to afford to use it all the time but the readings for the 2 weeks of the sensor should help me and my team, hopefully!

Yes they are expensive, The problem is all that info that a meter can't give, is just sooooo darned addictive @northener will confirm this to be true.
Most Libre users can only manage part time use.

Do let us know how you get on with it.

I will do 🙂

I will do 🙂
Great news Lucy 🙂 My first advice would be to put the sensor on, but don't activate it for 24 hours. I have done this with my 1st, 2nd and 4th sensors, but didn't with my 3rd and the readings that gave me were next to useless :( Also, make sure you are well-hydrated as this can help give more accurate readings (when compared to blood tests). I would also ask for some test strips for the meter so you can compare directly if needed 🙂

Thanks for the advice @Northerner 🙂

Hi all, just discovered that I've been accepted to trial the libre from my DSN! I get it fitted tomorrow with one sensor, excited 🙂
Hope you find it as useful as I do, and great to get a try before you buy.

Good to get the most out of it whilst you have it.
It will certainly make a big difference if you decide to do an overnight basal rate check.
Swipe, sleep, ............, sleep, swipe. Done. No waking up to do a finger prick and much more realistic picture of what happens overnight whilst you sleep.

Enjoy the use of it.

In two weeks time I think we might need to lock our sensors away :D

Definitely will be using it to do basal test 🙂

I'm all libred up and ready to go 🙂 currently sitting at 6.7.
Should be interesting as I'm working the next 3 nights, so a good opportunity to track my levels through the night. I'll be wearing a tubi grip over the sensor due to the needs of the children we're caring for (challenging behaviour), rep said that was fine.
Next week I'll be doing a couple of basal tests, so the info will be really helpful.
Already I can see how this can be addictive lol!
