Can any type 1 diabetic use this, or is it for pen users only? I am on a accu - check insight pump and am interested in the suitability and compatability . Can anyone advise if this is possible?

Anyone can use it, pump, pen, type 2 on oral meds, no meds, whatever, it's a completely independent system. I know there are some pump users on here who use it successfully, I think @everydayupsanddowns is one.
Yes I have used Libre with pump, and know others that do, as well as many on MDI/pens.
You wouldn’t be able to completely replace your insight handset of course (remote bolus and bolus wizard) because Roche pumps need a BG test from the paired Roche meter if you want to use the bolus calculator.
Libre would give you lots of information about what was happening ‘between’ your fingerstick results though. And you would be able to see what was happening overnight every single morning.
Hi Tigerella
I use the Accuchek Combo and I self fund the Libre for the reasons given above. There's no interaction between the two systems. If you have any questions about the Libre don't hesitate to ask, or maybe search through the existing threads as there have been quite a few.
Like Radders I use the Libre with my Accu Chek Combo. It doesn't replace all fingerprick tests as I need this the bolus wizard premeal and also for driving.
The Libre tells me so much more and eliminates most in between meals tests. It tells me
- glucose level (at about a 15 min timelag from BG as Libre measures interstitial glucose)
- direction of travel of my levels (rising up/down slowly/quickly) which enables me to head off many hypos and hypers
- what has happened over past eight hours on the reader using a graph. Great for overnight
- using free software a load more stuff.
Yes, I haven’t got a pump, but my specialist has written to my reluctant GP to get me an accucheck for the bolus wizard pre meal. I like the Libre, as Mike said, for the bits in between, especially the night time info.
