Is the new freestyle libre 2 app (version 2.10) available on google play? It says that it is available but when I try to download it I keep getting the previous App installed (2.8.4) some of the information from Abbott seems to suggest that it is only available on the apple store

Hello @Diabetic1/since19/01/1981

Welcome to the forum. It may have launched in one territory. It could be because of time zones? I know we have had a lot of issues with bugs on both mobile stores.

The advice from Abbot this week was not to download 2.10 android if you don’t have it yet and stick to 2.8

We may need to get some people from Abbot tech support on the forum!

I had an email from Abbott saying not to install the updated android version as they have identified some major issues with it , and are currently working on fixing the issues before releasing it to the play store.

They emailed everyone who use it with this advice, and posted it on their social media pages

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question, it would appear that abbott are working on a phone by phone basis. It is however confusing if abbott sends out information on the 13th July 2023 that the new app (2.10) version is available in the UK without actually making it clear that not everyone is able to download the app. I didn't receive an e-mail from abbott, and it would appear you only receive an e-mail when your phone is able to download the app. I spent about six hours on Saturday (29th July) going round in circles trying to download the new app and getting the old app (2.8.4) version

Freestyle app 2.10.1 now released supposedly with all the bugs fixed , fingers crossed

Just been on the app and it gave me the option to upgrade, which I did, and I now have the software full version:
2.10.1. after all the stress I feel like I've won the lottery, let's hope no more issues

They did not email everyone who uses it with advice regarding issues with Android.
From unofficial sources only, i understand the phased roll out has paused and there has been no option for phones using Android 13.

It was also on their social media pages if you aren’t registered for their emails but they did email

Perhaps you’re not registered for emails? Seems like everyone else got it. You use diabetes forums clearly and the post has been shared here too, or you could have checked the abbot website or social media pages.

Not sure why you’re so aggressive, the post was asking whether to download the app. Advice from Abbot was no don’t download it. I shared where to find the evidence of that because it’s always helpful to see information from the source.

Hello,

We have received the below update from Abbott this morning.

‘I wanted to let you know that a new version of the FreeStyle LibreLink app for Android (2.10.1) is now available in the UK and Ireland Google Play Stores. This version fixes the issue with the previous version (2.10.0) and includes automatic real-time glucose readings for FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor users.

We recommend people upgrade to the latest version as soon as possible.

We appreciate your patience while we fixed the issue and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused.’
