Hi everyone. I switched to the Freestyle Libre 2 system about 3 months ago. Only had 1 sensor failure which was replaced promptly by Abbott. I like the system and find it easy to use with 1 exception. I have found the Alarm function extremely unreliable. Have tried starting the sensor with both phone (Honor 10) and Abbott reader with the same result. Alarm works for about 1 day then has signal loss for about 90% of the time even though the phone and reader are well within the 6m recommended distance at all times. NFC function always works.

Just wondered if anyone had had same problem and if so is there a fix.

Are you keeping the phone / reader in the same side pocket as the sensor, and scanning when you get the signal loss alarm?

Hi. I wonder whether it's your phone not having a good Bluetooth range? I use a Samsung S8 which works very reliably over a range of 3-4 metres.

@stephen005 are you aware that the alarms will only work with the device that you start the sensor with?
If you start it with the reader, you should not expect to receive alarms on the phone and vice versa.

Incidentally, I used Libre 1 with the Honor 10 phone and a Miaomiao transmitter. I had no Bluetooth problems with the phone.

Hi Lucyr
Had to switch the signal loss alarm off as it keeps going every 15 mins or so however I do scan the sensor with both reader and phone quite regularly.

Hi Dave
The phone bluetooth range is ok I think as it has no trouble connecting to other devices well over the 6m that Abbott recommend. In any case the reader has exactly the same problem, and as it has been designed specifically for the Freestyle 2 sensor I would have expected the reader to work all the time when in range.
I'm baffled as to what the problem is.

Hi Helli
Yes I'm aware that the alarm is only supposed to appear on the device that starts the sensor. Strangely though on the odd occasion that the alarm has operated it has appeared on my phone as well as the reader even though the reader was used to start the sensor.

Once it loses signal you won’t get alarms until after you have rescanned, so the signal loss alarm is useful so that you know you won’t be getting alarms and can scan to restart them

Wouldn’t use an Honor 10 phone if you paid me. It’s at least a three year old design and hasn’t been updated for security. Might be a problem with the Bluetooth version installed on the phone. Who knows?
