Hi Everyone

What is everyone doing with their old Freestyle 1 readers once you have got the Freestyle 2 reader?

My GP has changed my prescription to the Freestyle 2 after receiving a letter from the hospital. I’ve always thrown away old blood Glucometers as I feel they can’t be recycled with battery/electrical goods due to the blood. However Freestyle readers haven’t come into contact with any blood so feel it’s ok to recycle them at the dump with electrical/battery goods. I’ll keep the old reader for a while but I won’t want to keep it forever.

keeping it as always good to have a back up means of testing ketones xx

I’ve already got another meter for ketones.
Do you have Facebook? You could always offer it on the Type 1 Pay It Forward group and help someone out xx

I am keeping mine as a backup blood test meter.
It is no use anywhere else and, thankfully, takes the same test strips as my primary meter.

I am keeping mine as a backup blood test meter.
I don't use it for BG but I feel right bad like a hoarder now or something, I'll keep mines for back up ketones BUT I've got 2 Libre 1 readers and a FreeStyle Optium Neo but surely it's better to have "just in case"? Well I think so anyways lol xx

Libre 2 reader also can be used to test Keytones too.
Yeah hun I know that's why I said keeping as a spare for ketones xx

I thought you meant you were keeping the original reader for keytone testing.
Well yes but as a spare in case anything happens to the Libre 2 reader, wouldn't want to be completely without a way of testing for them so always best to keep them seen as they all use the same strips, my Libre 2 reader is down at Bruce's where it will stay for at least 8 weeks as not sure if I'm getting the Libre 2 in my next prescription lol xx
