We've been invited to my brother-in-law's birthday bash at a pub restaurant in Suffolk, where he and his wife live. The menu is full of burgers, steaks, heavy sauces, general pub grub, not very veggie-friendly. But one dish is a 'freekeh grain salad with chicken' (or falafal). What is freekeh like? Google says it is healthy and low-carb, but I've never heard of it before. Is it like couscous?

I don't want to overindulge in carby stuff so soon after Christmas, and I generally eat veggie when I'm out. My brother-in-law is type 2 and on medication (don't know what), and I don't think he eats low-carb at all, as Mr Marten tells me that his brother & his wife often eat at this particular pub.

Sorry - maybe this should have gone to the food & recipes thread...😳
