Hi,

I'm been rejected by GP Nurse for a libre 2+ as I don't cover the guidance, I've advised I've got severse learning difficulties and nice guidance has a section on it, I've also tested for low testosterone and on GLP-1 atm but think the injection is the course and think switching over to CGM would be more beneficial, has anyone had any success going to GP Dr, then going to the ICB/Healthboard and got any recommendations on the CGM?

Hi @wolfy666, how long have you lived with type 2 diabetes?
If you think you meet the criteria, it's worth writing to the practice manager to explain that you'd like to be re-reviewed. You might find it handy to call our helpline (number at the top of the page) to get a little more individualised support on what your next possible options are.

hi @wolfy666 unfortunately not many T2’s tick enough of the boxes to qualify for CGM funded on prescription unfortunately, despite it being a useful tool to many T2D, It is rarely available

I consider myself lucky as having been initially refused
like you the GP made the request the ICB weren’t able to fund the first application, but another application was later successful although I’m not 100% sure it came from the same source of funding if I’m honest

may I ask a few questions, regarding your situation
have you already taken up both Abbot & Dexcom’s offer of a sensor on their Trial offer ?
what meds are you on ?
what was your last Hba1c ?
how many times a day (in a usual day) are you currently finger prick testing ?

You’d need to be taking insulin 2+ times a day to qualify, even if you have a learning disability and need someone to help you test your blood sugar
