hi can anyone tell me if diabetics get free dental treatment as l havent been for years😱

unfortunately . Our eyes we get tested for free but not our teeth😡

No neither do old age pensioners or anyone who has made provision for themselves and is above the breadline.

Wish we could get free dental treatment, as the credit card will be taking a beating shortly, as a big dental bill coming up soon.

No, but basic NHS treatment isn't too badly priced, particularly when compared to private dentists. Basic check-ups are less than ?20 I think.

No I can confirm its not free as went last week for a check up cost was about ?18.00 but make sure you are a NHS patient and not private.

My Dad is completely housebound and an NHS dentist visited him yesterday. the cost was................... ?18 for the visit and check up. He needs two fillings so the dentist will be back in 2 weeks time and the cost including the visit yesterday is ?49. I was amazed by this as exactly the same as NHS charges when visiting the surgery unless exempt from charges.

I know Sue - it's ?49 to have a tooth out, too!

I'm currently debating about a loose one of mine - as I'm having a new denture (?214) I can have the tooth extracted within that. If I leave it and THEN it needs to come out, that's another ?49 AND be without a sensible denture for 2 or 3 days while they add the tooth ..... OTOH I will still have the existing denture and thus still be able to smile whilst waiting ..... except of course mouth would probably be too sore for it to worry me, LOL
