Welcome to the forum
In the 6 years since diagnosis have you changed your life style in changing your diet or have you just been relying on the metformin.
Being careful of the amount of carbohydrates you eat will be just as effective if not more so than metformin.

Hi @Mandslo, sounds like you've been through the mill for the last couple of years. It is difficult to stay on the wagon when you are down, and your mum dying must have been a real trauma for you.

The good news is that you have now reached a point where you can start turning your diabetes around again. As @Leadinglights says, reducing the amount of carbs you eat is an effective way of reducing your blood glucose. Well done on losing 3 stone! You've done the weight loss once so you know you can do it again.

It's really positive joining this forum. People are so friendly and helpful...and coming on here helps motivate me to keep at it, hope it will do the same for you 🙂

worst things for me is bread and of course all the sweet stuff we shldnt hav but i go great for a few weeks then go mad . Hoping thst this is the place that will help keep me on track so far i think it will

Welcome to the forum @Mandslo

Yes it can be really helpful to have a community of folks around you who face the same struggles every day.

Good to hear you’ve been able to make some positive changes to your menu. Hopefully you can develop it into a way of eating that will work for you long-term, and allow your tastes to adjust and change.

Keep asking questions, and let us know how you get on 🙂
