... I was told I was definitely diabetic but, I'm not sure whether to count today as my diaversary, or the day two weeks earlier when I was carted off to St George's in Tooting with what I now know was DKA.

Since I'm still running pretty low and had a 3.0 earlier, I'm celebrating with a small bowl of pineapple ice cream. 😎

Either way Happy Diaversary! :D

Hope you enjoyed your ice cream :D

Hmm, I just realised I found this place pretty quickly, I joined the day after Dx. Best diabetes related decision I ever made.

You were quick off the mark finding this site 🙂, took me 13 years to find it 😱. Have 2 D days celebrate in style :D :D.

I agree with the fact you found this forum....and your posts have been inspirational to many other members 🙂...including me :D

Made the mistake of trusting the doctors for way to long, in the management of the big D 😱 😱.

Happy Diaversary Alison 🙂 It took a while and an awful lot of (probably unnecessary) trouble to get you where you are today, finally with an appropriate diagnosis and a halfway decent treatment regime, hope things are even brighter for you by the time you celebrate your fifth - no more of those lightning-strike lows! 🙂

😛Seems to me that if you had DKA you should take the day you were admitted to St George's as your diaversary! Nevertheless, happy diaversary!

Happy diaversary! Hope you enjoyed the ice cream and your diabetes behaved!

Happy Diaversary 🙂

Hope you had a happy diaversary and enjoyed your little treat. I agree that finding this site is the best decision ever because of people like you who help those like me who are completely bewildered when first diagnosed and have so many questions afterwards.

Same here, I joined very soon after diagnosis partly because I found the information from the doctor to be a bit vague and I wanted to know a lot more of the technical side of things. It's been a revelation reading all the brilliant advice and experiences from you guys, i practically live and breathe the subject now (in my head only though, don't want to bore people with it :D ).

My wife is a primary school teacher and has a new child who is type one and I was able to explain all about insulin, what happens inside when you eat and the importance of BG testing. Wouldn't have pretended to know any of that before I came on here.
