Hi I have been a member of DUK for a long time, but never posted.
Can anyone signpost to a forum that deals with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy or am I on the correct platform?
Thank you for any information .

Welcome to the forum @Scrubs1

I’d suggest starting a thread in the ‘General Messageboard’ which gets the most traffic and asking your question, or sharing your experiences there 🙂

I'm blessed with DPN in my feet, had it for 3 years and have numbness and difficulty walking/driving.

I met a friend the other day and he has had to have his car converted to hand controls as he cannot feel his feet enough to drive safely and had a crash so do be careful.

I have hand controls fitted to the car, which I have just started to use. They are fairly easy to get used to and take away the worry about feet. DVLA notified. I lost the fine control in my feet over about 3 months. As ever, GP not interested.

Hi, thanks for your experiences, it's a life changing ailment, I have DPN in my toes of all places. When I was first diagnosed with it around 8 years ago, there was very little information in the UK, so I joined forums in the US where it is taken more seriously and keeps getting more funding. Having said that it hasn't done my condition any good. I have had epidurals and electrode therapy, acupuncture everything, and probably like a lot of people I have been kicked out of pain management for goodness sake. It's so debilitating as your experiences prove.
Sorry I digress. My question is, is there anyone who is currently receiving any sort of medication that is actually helping their condition? I appreciate that different medications help different people for different ailments.
I am just wondering. Thank you.

Hi Scrubs1, if your GP isn't interested ask for a referral to a neurologist. They have all the up to date treatments. You will probably have a long wait for an apt, but worth asking for one.

My feet are just numb, they don't hurt. They are uncomfortable for walking. Received no help at all, neurology not interested. Physio gave me some excercises to help ankles and backs of legs.

Hi was under the care ( loosely put) of a neurologist for a number of years. No joy with any effective treatment. I get the numbness in my toes, but it's a freezing numbing and it's really painful, every step is agony when my toes touch the ground.
There is one treatment I am very tempted to try and it's very controversial, and illegal. I stopped smoking 30 years ago, and I have lost my Mother, Father, and Brother from cancer, but I am very tempted to try cannabis , I haven't yet and probably won't, but in certain circumstances it can help. Wether it's something that gets rid of the pain, or just takes you away from the pain, I don't know. I have tried the edible versions and does nothing.
Can I say I am not trying to promote the taking of illegal drugs, I would just like to read people's thoughts on the subject as a pain relief.
Thank you

Cannabis is illegal, but i don't think cbd is, and isn't that the bit that is supposed to help? The active bits of canabis are thc, which makes you high, and cbd which some people think can have positive results. If your thinking that way, you may want to try cbd first.
I would not purchase cannabis anywhere where it is illegal as you are supporting some very unpleasent practices like modern day slavery plus the modern strong strains with high thc, can do your head in.

It's the Tetrahydrocannabinol aka THC content of the cannabis plant that is controlled in this country. THC is the psychoactive component of the plant and one of the 113 cannabinoids in cannabis.

Cannabidiol aka CBD has lots of reported health benefits including reducing anxiety, lowering blood pressure and helping with neurological disorders and heart issues. If you google this you can find lots of info.

Personally, I started vaping CBD about 6 months ago after being recommended it to help with insomnia and anxiety. It definitely helps. I have also found it has lowered my blood pressure, even though I didn't have high blood pressure - it has definitely reduced the numbers when I test.

Hi thank you for the response. As I explained I was in no way advocating the use of illegal drugs. I think I made that point very clear.
The oil Yes I tried in for a number of months. Didn't do anything for me unfortunately.
Vaping I will explore
Thank you.

You did make that point very clear

When I was first diagnosed I had neuropathy. Very painful, but with good control and the Peripheral Neuropathy cocktail I reversed it. The "cocktail" is prescribed in many european countries, I don't know why the medics here haven't caught on. See attached.

Ha, Thank you Tdm.
Patti I tried checking your Cocktail, yet to open your PDF,I am getting asked to sign my life away, with a company called API , so I will pass thank you though.

Thanks for that link @Pattidevans I'm going to give it a try. I didn't get asked to enter any details when I clicked the link, it just opened in a new tab for me.

It is just a PDF document. Quite common and harmless. Perhaps you need an app to open it on a phone. I will edit/copy/paste the text when I get to my laptop.

Hi Patti
I managed to view your DPN cocktail eventually.
Yes it's interesting, while I am not a fan of herbal remedies, not that I don't believe they work,I tend to stick with BMA.
Having said that I am desperate.
I am going to try and purchase the ingredients, but how long to you recommend before I may see any results.
I get positive results as you seem to have done.
Thank you
