I am on an iPad.
Does anyone know how you can use the bold, italic, ...
I have the tool bar visible as I type but it is greyed out and does not work.
I used to do it by selecting the text and the option was there. I have tried for single words and phrases, but it does not work either way.

Any suggestions (apart from don’t use an iPad)

Works fine on my iPad too.
I’m just using the font prefence buttons in the reply box itself.

I use an ipad, it seems to work if I click on the bar above where I' m typing,but it’s not greyed out for me.

Yes that would be my first thought... that you have accidentally turned off the ‘rich text editor’.

There should be a cog/gear wheel at the end of the rows of button icons. Press that and the bold etc should become active again 🙂
