"Link" is when you want to link to another web page (be it a post on this forum, or an external page), like this. (I first typed the "like this", then to make it stand out as a link, I underlined it, then applied blue, and finally applied the link.) "Unlink" removes a link from text which already has one (because it was copied and pasted from elsewhere?).

"Align" is of course left, centre or right (left by default). "Indent" moves subsequent text away from the margin a bit, "outdent" moves it back. "Smilies", aka "smileys" or "emojis", are those cute little icons used to express a mood. 🙂

"Picture" is for embedding an image linked from another site such as Flickr. "Media" is for embedding videos from YouTube or other selected sites.

"Insert" has four options:
1) Quote:
The boy stood on the burning deck
Whence all but he had fled --
Twit.
2) Spoiler:
I have nothing to hide... this time.
3) Code (e.g. programs:
Code:
repeat
  writeln('This forum is great!')
until false
4) Strikethrough:
Like this.

What is the easiest way to upload a picture from your pc? I did manage it yesterday, but I suspect I took a long and circuitous route!

I just open File Manager, find the picture I want and then drag and drop it into the post 🙂 Before posting you can decide whether it should appear as a thumbnail or in full size 🙂

I've had to upload the picture first. I found that in the media section of this forum. It's not the most obvious or easiest. :(

I didn't think of doing that 🙄 Thank you 🙂 Now I need to crack doing it on my ipad.

If you solve it on your iPad, let us know how.
I have to go back to PC to be able to have two bits open.

The way I've done it on an iPad is to screen shot the picture or page I want to post ( hold down on/off button and then press button at centre bottom). Then I click 'post reply' on the forum thread, then the 'upload a file' next to it. This opens a box saying 'select file' , click that and it gives you options, one of which is 'photo library' . Click that, and it takes you to your photos and screen shots, and you can select the image you want. It attaches it, and asks you if you want a thumbnail or a full image. (I always go for full image).
Hope that makes sense to you, and @pottersusan

Well I never knew how to do a screenshot on my ipad. You'll probably all get fed up with my pictures now.:D

Thanks @Robin

Thanks Robert just used this for the first time to add a link, feeling very pleased with myself.

I am not sure that I understand these options for Insert.
I may well not need to but what is the purpose of the spoiler?

'Spoiler' hides the text you have highlighted so that a member has to click on it to reveal it when they read the post. like this:

Here's the punchline!
