Former health secretaries Andrew Lansley and Andy Burnham are facing accusations they sought to suppress criticism of a hospital where mothers and babies died.

Mr Lansley, now leader of the House of Commons, is accused of threatening to sack a whistleblower who threatened to expose how health watchdog the Care Quality Commission was failing patients.

Kay Sheldon revealed last week how she was subject to ?the most appalling treatment? when she revealed how the CQC binned a report into the failings at the Furness General Hospital.

The Sunday Times says Mr Lansley wrote to Ms Sheldon in March last year after she raised her concerns, warning that he was considering her dismissal from the CQC board.

It all stinks doesn't it. But I would say it's the doctors and nurses at these hospital that have failed patients, the CQC have failed all of us by not highlighting the problems while no doubt being paid nicely for it. Hunt has done a good job with this so far but he must go further. His mate lansley and the slime ball Burnham should be going to jail for their roles in this. Putting votes before patients is not and will never be acceptable.
