Do you have travel insurance? If so, first port of call is probably their medical help line. They will have a protocol of where you should go to obtain fresh supplies. Failing that, this is an emergency, so go to a hospital in the first instance, they may be able to give you emergency stuff, and advise you where to get longer lasting supplies.

A few years ago I drove from New York to Toronto with an overnight stop en route. When I arrived in Toronto I realised that I had left my insulin in the overnight hotel - across the border in the US. I went into a pharmacy in Toronto and was able to buy replacement insulin very cheaply without a prescription.

If Walmart are selling insulin without a prescription, then it sounds like the same situation applies in the US. However, self-funding (i.e. without insurance cover) is very expensive there. I was walking in Jamaica in March with my insulin pump on my belt and an American lady stopped me and said she had the same pump (Medtronic) and pulled it out of her bra. She asked me how much it cost in the UK, I told her that it was free to me under the "socialist" NHS but I believe Medtronic sold them to the NHS for £3000. She said that hers had cost US$7000 (about £5000). Thank heavens for the NHS.

Hope your insurance covers it - as @mikeyB says, insulin is horrifically expensive over there :(
