My 19year old son (diagnosed at 15) played football on Saturday and has just shown me his foot....he has a toe nail that is turning black and what looks like bruising on the bones leading to his toes...I've got pics but can't figure out how to up load them.
Is this something he should seek medical help with?
Sorry just don't want to be an over reacting worried mother
Thanks

If you call your podiatry team, they will decide if he needs to be seen, as they do like to keep an eye on any injuries or at least in my area they do.

It can also depend on if your son is in one of the at risk groups, must be a couple or so years ago I got told off for not calling them with a large blister on my foot. I am in the high risk and have to call them with any injuries, and sods law Xmas day ended up with a black nail bed and when I called them, the team said I needed to be seen.

Its always best to get these things checked, better to be safe than sorry.

I think you should call, even if they don't need to see him, they might want to note it in his record.

Thanks all....it's the toe nail going black that's worrying me more than anything

I had a black toe nail last year after completing a 25k, the dr checked it and advised me to just keep an eye on it and not to fiddle with it too much and he warned me that I might lose it. Luckily enough I kept my toe nail and its now back to normal, so definitely worth a phone call at least.

From one over reacting worried mother to another- get it checked-even if just to put your own mind at rest 😉
