Hey

Just wondered wot types of food u lot eat that keep ur blood sugars stable for longer?

tah.

Plenty of fruit and vege, whole grain rice, as much of the 'healthy stuff' as possible. Meat is almost all protein with some fat thrown in. Nuts are good too.

I try and use low glycemic food as much as posible.
Have a look and see if it helps you.

Dear litto-miss-loz,

I use a low carbohydrate approach; the rationale is simple - if you don't put glucose (i.e. carbohydrate) into your body, how can you have high blood sugar?

Whole grains as opposed to refined grains like white bread and white flour. Plenty of pulses and vegetables and fruit when I feel like something sweet. I do have a vice for crisps so I try to buy maize ones as they have less carbs and usually less calories than potato crisps. I recently stopped drinking things with sweetener in and have only mineral water, with plant milk every now and then.

Nearly everything I eat is carbohydrate, since I don't eat animal products, and my blood sugars have been fantastic since I became more health conscious. It could be down to a number of factors - I switched from Lantus to Levimir and started taking slow releasing metformin. Either way I've never felt better. 🙂

Hi WorzelGummidge

Just wondered why you also take a slow releasing metformin. I have read briefly about this in a book but did not really understand if it was suitable for all type 1 diabetics or it's advantages.

Thanks
Kezza.
