United Arab Emirates? 10kg is a lot of weight to lose in that time, especially with the added problem of being on insulin. Really, the only way you are going to do it is by trying to increase your activity levels and reduce calories. As long as you have sufficient insulin circulating, you should be able to deal with any ketosis/ketones that might occur from burning fat as energy. But I'm no expert, never having tried it! Is there a dietician or Physical training instructor you could consult?

Uae

United Arab Emirates UAE and the company i work for is US and they have requirements for the job i do , which i cant disclose sorry

no access

i currently have no access to medical treatment, i do have company medical cover , but not for dietician etc , i need to do it all by my own research etc . its a royal pain in arse , i have been told if i can make significant improvement ie even 5 kg then it will show im determined. so need to get some sort of diet in place etc

I understand your dilema in terms of the weightloss, but you are surely being discriminated against if you are dismissed due to weight. Is that not discrimination?

I personally would contact my team/DSN and ask for a referral to the diabetes dietician, my department at the hospital has one but Im not sure that all do.

Thats a big amount to loose- I agree with Northener. Good luck anyhow x

Are you able to exercise? Aerobic exercise should help increase insulin sensitivity and reduce insulin requirements which should aid weight loss. I presume the kinds of food available to you may be different to mine, so can't really advise in that area. Lean, low sugar, low salt, lots of veggies and think about reducing portion sizes if you are used to large meals. Difficult to be more specific since it will be a bit of a learning curve for you to find out what works best for you.

I think Northerner may have hit the nail on the head with one comment here.
I have almost (!) lost 2 stone in 7 weeks and I have to say there are 2 major factors that have helped.

1) Buy a smaller plate and stick to it - it really does make you realise how much you are eating above normal portion size. Then if you feel hungry before next meal - ear fruit or veg only.

2) Exercise - any sort for at least 30 minutes - the more cardio the better. You should power walk - you can do that anywhere. What about swimming?

I may be able to help with your diet in a few weeks. My son moves to Qatar and will have a better idea of what food is available - and believe me he cooks and eats healthily only, so will come back to you later on this. Sorry can't be more help.

So remember for me.

Smaller plate + 30 min exercise daily = 2 stone in 7 weeks.

Go for it - but if you feel you really need to eat more then don't punish yourself too hard.

I too work for a US company and totally understand what you are facing.

All the best.

Good luck - must be really tough increasing activity levels in hot daytime temperatures, so you may limited to early mornings and evenings. But, as you say, you have the incentive, and we're right behind you, even if I for one don't know much about American employment rights, healthcare in UAE etc (always ahve to think twice about UAE [United Arab Emirates] / UEA [University of East Anglia] Are there any restictions on you walking alone / wearing shorts & T shirts for exercise etc?
