MORE than half of Bolton?s adult population is obese ? and now Town Hall bosses want people to decide how food packaging can help to tackle the problem.
The Government has launched a consultation to find out which of the three labelling systems currently used is considered to be the most clear and consistent.
It will then recommend that the whole food industry uses this method.
NHS Bolton, with support from Bolton Council , is planning to suggest that the Government opts for a traffic light labelling system. It will also recommend a national social marketing campaign to inform people how to interpret the labels.
