Which app do people use to track and monitor their food intake? I'm currently using Noom Coach, is there something better out there that I should look at?

TIA

I'm old school and use good old pen and paper.

I use Myfitnesspal ( the free version, not the upgrade) because it does everything I want, eg, has details of a wide range of commercial foods on it, has the facility to add your own recipes, counts the calories and carbs, and in most cases the fat and protein ( some entries are more comprehensive than others) and you can set your target calories, then factor in what you've burnt off as exercise.

"Weight by Date" on my desktop. I've been told by several dieting friends that Myfitnesspal is a pretty good and easy to use app.

I'm using Carbs & Cal . It cost £3.99 but I like it shows food on a plate so I can add my meals and watch my carbs.

How good would it be for unfortunates like me who can't do any meaningful exercise, there not being any gyms for crips like me on Mull.?

I find Carbs & Cals very useful. It is purely for food. I like the idea of being able to make it personal to me and to what I eat. If an item it is not there I can add it myself, put in the carbs and cals for that portion, take a photograph of it so in future I can see at a glance the portion size I am going to be having and what the carbs (and cals) are. I do not think £3.99 is a lot for the use I have had out of it. I think one has to work out how useful it is going to be to them to find out if it is worth paying that for it.

My aim is to lose weight, Lillian, so can I be very rude and ask if you've lost weight using the App? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to😳

I use the app mainly for calculating how much insulin I need. However it has helped to lose a bit of weight when I think I will have a bit of apple pie, or chocolate cake, or whatever, look up the carbs to calculate the insulin, have a minor heart attack and decide not to have it after all 😉

Obviously if you are counting carbs, or calories, it will help but you will have to put your total on a piece of paper as it does not calculate that for you. Fitday is also quite a good one.

I haven't got to adding food and pictures yet but I find it useful for recording my carbs. As I'm aiming to lose weight I like the calorie bit too. I have lost about 5lb in 5 days

I use it exactly the same - to calculate my insulin and watch what I eat. There have been a few occasions I've thought 'I'll just have a couple of biscuits', then I've looked it up and they've gone straight back in the cupboard :D😱:D
It's my bible and I'd be lost without it.

How are finding it I was put off by the cost and negative reviews!

It's generally pretty good but don't take everything in it as gospel - food naturally has a lot of variability so it's hard for one app to be 100% right all the time.

I wouldn't say £3.99 was a lot given you're likely to be running it on a phone that probably cost at least a couple of hundred quid...:D

It counts anything that burns calories, 'cooking and food preparation' for example is one of the options. and you don't have to use that part of the app, which is separate from the carb counting bit.
I do doubt the accuracy of the calorie burning bit, anyway, but it's nice to stick in something like '30 mins light housework' when you've exceeded calories and see the red figures turn green again ( I know, simple things please simple minds)

Me too. I've started to use is and for now works well, the fre verion had ads of course but I could live with them.

@Robin Can you set up meals? Say I've made a casserole for four days can I just list the ingredients and save it as a meal? That's an annoyance in Noom, I have to enter everything on the list for every meal.

Yes, you can create recipes, which it then saves, by entering the details of each ingredient either from your input, or by searching it's database for the ingredients ( you then adjust the potion size)
