Flying with CGM

I’m due to fly to Cyprus on holiday in couple of weeks. I’ve been wearing a CGM for a couple of months and it’s been a revelation. I feel so much more in control and HbA1C is down from 78 to 50.
I’ve read the advice on Dexcom website. Contacted the airport for guidance as it seems I’ll need to avoid sending my hand luggage through the x ray and ask for a “manual” search. Everything is saying get letter from GP but my GP won’t go me one as he didn’t prescribe. In my area you only qualify for CGM on NHS if insulin dependent which I’m not.
Anybody flown with CGM with no letter and do you have issues?
Hoping someone can help

I have a letter for all my diabetes equipment including insulin, needles, pump, and CGM.
I have flown, literally 100s of times over more than 20 years and shown my letter once!
That was when there was a heightened level of security due to the "shoe bomber".
I have never been asked or needed to show the letter since.
Although I still carry it (it is in the same wallet as my passport) it is very tattered.

To be honest, I have never had any issues with a CGM at security and always go straight through the scanner, including my hand luggage.
I think Abbott say Libre are fine with airport scanners so Dexcom are probably just being ultra careful.
I only take this level of care with my pump

@SMS63 I’m Type 1 so always take a letter. I have an insulin pump and CGM plus pen, etc. What medication are you on, and how long are you going for? TBH, in your position I’d just fingerprick if you’ll only be away a week or two.

I have never had or even needed a letter, but I do carry my prescription with me. The week before last I travelled to Spain from Gatwick, I went through the new body scanner wearing my cgm and my spare went through the new x-ray machine in my hand luggage, both worked fine afterwards. Remember to carry all your diabetic supplies in your hand luggage. Have a good holiday.
