Floaters!

Hello! First post here 🙂

Last few weeks I’ve noticed an increase in eye floaters!

Went to the optician and they said im all good. Also had my screening in December and that was fine, just some changes in the one eye!

Any advice ? 🙂 think i need to stop stressing about them

Welcome. If it where me I would get it checked out. I am off to eye hosp tomorrow for yearly check. 🙂

Welcome to the forum, CurlyJ, I’ve had floaters for years. In the absence of any significant pathology, they aren’t of any significance. They’re a bit commoner in the short sighted, and always disappear as time goes by. Mine have. They got worse after a total vitreous detachment, but as the eye specialist said, that’s another occurrence in the short sighted that’s fairly common, but harmless. But it does theoretically increase the likelihood of retinal detachment, which is an emergency. It’s not happened to me yet, and all that was a good twenty years ago. Don’t worry yourself.

Yep I’m harsh on myself as I’ve only had diabetes for six years, hb1ac is very tightly controlled too.

Would you say an opticians trip is enough? GP didnt seem fussed when I told him about it 🙂

A decent optician should be well qualified to spot anything of significance. And as I was once a GP, that makes two of us not overly concerned
