So fed up - really need to clean the house today - been promising myself all week - and have had 2 hypos already. Cold sweats and shaking.

Now at 3.2 - I suppose it is lunch time now though but last one at 9.30
Have had cereal bar and soem full fat cole but it doesn't seem to be staying up once I get up - any syggestions?

If you are having frequent hypo's then you need to look at the insulin you'll injecting...

It sounds as though you need to check if your background insulin is correct, easiest way of doing this is a fasting test (do remember to have plenty of hypo kit and test strips, and abort if you need to treat a hypo or high)

If your background insulin is correct, hold steady +/- 2mmol/l levels then you need to look at your insulin-carb ratio's as it's likely that these may need adjusting, or you may need to adjust your dose to the exercise you are going to do!

When treating hypo's, use fast acting carbs first get your levels up then use a slower carb to keep the blood stready..

Edit,

Just clocked you'll a T2 diabetic, the above only really applies if you'll using insulin, but if you are using other oral medication, then you need to get hold of your GP to discuss these hypo's, and it may be that your oral medication needs reducing...

Hopefully another T2 will now come along and bail me out with some more helpful information
If you hate the cereal bar before your hypo was fully treated, it will slow down the effect of the full fat coke you had.. Taking longer for the blood glucose levels to return to normal, which then leaves to over treatment and a rebound high.. As you retreat the hypo thinking that you need more to treat it!

Sounds like getting in touch with GP for a med review would be worthwhile. Has anything else changed? Have you lost weight? Changed eating habits?

Hope you feel better this afternoon.

Sometimes it can be hard to keep levels up for no apparent reason. As you are 'special' it's hard to know what to suggest, but perhaps regular sips on a bottle of coke/lucozade would be enough to keep levels up without provoking an overreaction from your pancreas? Hope things settle ans stabilise for you soon 🙂

Hi Mike,

I have lost 1.5 stone in just under 4 weeks but have been dieting and for first time in long time the diet is working. I have still been having between 1700 and 2000 calories and meals have been balanced correctly.

I do get hypos but today I have had 3 bad ones that completely knocked me off my feet. Been very shaky and cold and sweaty and burst into tears once!😱

I suppose it could be the change in diet. I am wondering what is happening and could the old insulin floods be at play but normally only get one hypo with them.

Cant wait to start Byetta to see if it stops all this.

Thanks for replying.

Thanks Ellie for responding and trying to help anyway. Sorry for the short reply before - couldn't manage any more.🙂

Hi Alan - yes I am finding it unusually difficult today - have had this before after a long run - but not done anything like that today.

Sipping coke and testing now - had a huge sleep - completely knocked me out today as - will see how this evening and tomorrow go.

No tennis or run for me tonight now:( just going to take it easy and watch some tv and wait for hubby to get home.

Today is the first time I have felt a little frightened and panicky. I will mention it to consultant when I see him in July.

Thanks everyone - its good to know you are all here.🙂
